Most guest houses around Vrindavan and Mathura do not need a channel manager on day one. They need to stop promising the same room twice, and they need a guest who messaged on WhatsApp to land in a list the owner can see at 11pm. Laravel is a reasonable way to do that. A fake “OTA killer” product is not.
This note is for people hiring application work, not for people buying a five-page marketing site. If you only need photos, a map and a Call button, that is a hotel website in Vrindavan — a different intent, a different URL. If you need rows in a database, keep reading.
Start with inventory, not payments
A useful first schema is boring: properties (even if you have one), room types, a calendar of blocked dates, and an enquiry with name, phone, dates, and status (new / held / confirmed / cancelled). Payments come after you have a refund rule you can explain in Hindi to an uncle who paid cash at the desk. Razorpay on an empty policy is how you spend festival week reversing charges.
Holds should expire. If a guest says “keep it, I am coming from Mathura Junction”, the desk needs a timer — 30 minutes, two hours, whatever you actually honour — so the next family is not told the room is free when it is not. Laravel’s scheduler plus a held_until column is enough. You do not need Redis on night one unless you already have it.
WhatsApp is a feature, not a failure
Guests will still message the owner. The app should make that easier: a deep link with the enquiry id, or a template the desk can forward. Replacing WhatsApp in Braj in year one is a fantasy. Logging the thread id next to the booking is not.
We run a live stay site for Mathura and Vrindavan — Brijwasi Stay — aimed at direct stays rather than OTA commission. That is a public website plus enquiry, not a full property-management OS. If your brief sounds like the OS, cut it until it sounds like the stay site, then grow.
What to refuse in the first contract
Channel manager sync, dynamic pricing, 14 languages, “AI that fills empty rooms”, guest apps, and staff rosters with biometric attendance. Those are how a two-week job becomes a year. Festival peaks matter: your queries will spike, your photos will be heavy, and the Wi‑Fi near the mandir will be bad. Build the admin to work on a phone. Put the heavy gallery on the marketing site, not in the Laravel livewire table.
Auth: one owner role and one desk role is plenty. Do not start with ten permissions named after a US hotel chain.
Room types that actually exist in Braj
AC vs cooler, “family room” vs four-bed dorm, a connecting pair that must be sold together during Kartik — those are product rules, not CSS. Put them in the database as room types with occupancy and a flag for “never sell separately”. A marketing site can say “deluxe”; the Laravel app has to know that deluxe is room 12 and 13 with a lock between them.
Check-in is often noon only on paper. Real desks hold a bag at 9am and still need the previous guest’s room. A simple early_hold note on the enquiry beats a clever algorithm. Festival weeks: block the calendar in bulk (Kartik fortnight, Holi weekend) rather than hoping a public checkout will “figure it out”.
How I would staff it
If you are in Vrindavan and you want this built, hire on the developer cluster — start at hire a developer in Vrindavan — not on a website package form. Send room count, whether you already use an OTA, and who confirms a booking today. I will answer on WhatsApp with a slice, not a slogan.
Send a quote on WhatsApp if the brief is already in your head: +91 88648 43822. Same number as the rest of Brijwasi Digital.
Questions
Is this the hotel website page for Vrindavan?
No. hotel-website-vrindavan.php is photos, map and WhatsApp — a marketing site. This note is Laravel: rooms, dates, enquiry. Live stay: hotel.brijwasidigital.com.
Do I need a channel manager in week one?
No. Inventory and enquiry first so you stop double-booking. Channel managers are a later, separate scope if you still need OTAs.
Can guests pay online on day one?
Only after you have a refund rule you can explain in Hindi. Enquiry plus WhatsApp is the honest first slice.
Need this built, not just read?
Send a quote on WhatsApp — same number as the rest of the site.
